Yasmien KurdiThe Story of Yasmien KurdiYasmien Kurdi is a Filipina singer, an actress and a 5’4” personality. She is one of the Final Four and won the first runner-up only next to Jennilyn Mercado in the reality-based talent search of GMA, StarStruck. She appeared in several shows of the station but her biggestbreak as an actress when she handled the role of Charming, the ugly daughter of Bakekang in Bakekang TV Series on 2006. She took inspirations in acting to the likes of Sharon Cuneta, Anne Curtis and Vilma Santos and to likes of Lea Salonga and Lani Misalucha in singing. GMA crowned her as the GMA Drama Princess. Yasmien Yuson Kurdi was born on January 25, 2989 in Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines. Her mother Miriam Ong-Yuson is a pure Filipina while her father Mike Kurdi is a French-Lebanese. Yasmien spent her childhood days in the Middle East, Kuwait to be specific, where his father had worked. After the separation of her parents, Yasmien and her mother returned to Philippines. She was reported one of the top 10 of her class at New Era University and a member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo. As early as three years old, Yasmien already engages in singing competition. She performed monologue acting and took part in the zarzuela adaptation of Noli Me Tangere playing the role as Maria Clara at the age of seven in Kuwait. She did modeling first before she entered into acting. Her first print ad as a model was PONDS. Her career’s turning point when she auditioned for Starstruck, GMA’s talent search on 2003. She won the second placer next to Jennylyn Mercado in female category. After her wining in StarStruck, though second placer only, she appeared in several shows on GMA as Click, SOP Gigsters, Joyride etc. She took part in movies also including So…Happy Together, Aishite Imasu (Mahal Kita) 1941, Lovestruck and Happily Ever After. Her debut album entitled In The Name Of Love was released under GMA Records. The carrier single of the album is “I Know”, which was used in Korean Teledrama Sweet 18 as its soundtrack. Another singles of the album were “In The Name Of Love”, “Umaambisyon” and “Patuloy Pa Rin”. The album reached to Certified Platinum selling more than 30,000 copies. One of her milestones in acting when she’s playing Mira in Encantadio, GMA’s fantaserye. In addition to that, she played the role as Charming, an ugly daughter of Bakekang which was aired in GMA on 2006. On 2006, she played as a lesbian in Pitong Dalagita and played a role also in Shake, Rattle and Rool 2k5, Bahay Kubo and Love Is All That Matters. On 2007, Yasmien became the voice talent of Rukia Kuchiki in the anime Bleach. She starred also in Pati Ba Pintig Ng Puso with JC de Vera. Their tandem proved to be successful and was chosen to pair again in the Sine Novela Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig which was originally starred by Sharon Cuneta. Both the singles “Pati Ba Pintig Ng Puso” and “Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig” were sung by her. Her second album of GMA Records was released on May 2007 entitled Love Is All I Need. “Kisapmate” is the first single, followed by “Love Is All I Need” and “Take It Or Leave It”. Currently, she is taping her TV Series, Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita and was assigned to sing the theme song of the series of the same name. She can be seen also in Tasya Fantasya. Albums
