Rainier CastilloThe Story of Rainier CastilloRainier Joseph Diaz Castillo is a Filipino actor and a singer. He is simply known as ”Rainier Castillo”. He made trademark with his killer smile and ala F4 hairstyle. He is one of the final four of StarStruck but lost the title as ultimate to Mark Herras. Rainier Castillo was born on October 21, 1985 in Quezon City, Philippines. He studied in AMA Computer University. He tried his luck by joining the first batch of StarStruck, GMA’s reality talent search. Luckily, he made it and passed until the final round as one of the four finalists. Throughout the contest, he was linked into four females. One was Jade Lopez who had crush on him, Sheena Halili was his loveteam during the competition however the tandem was ceased after Halili was eliminated. He is linked also to Yasmien Kurdi and Jennelyn Mercado. With his killer smile and F4 hairstyle which was the seasoned hairstyle during the time, served as his assets in entering the Final Four with Yasmien Kurdi, Jennelyn Mercado and Mark Herras. Eventually, on the grand finals, he lost the title as Ultimate StarStruck Survivor to Mark Herras as Yasmien to Jennelyn. Though lost in the competition, StarStruck was his turning point for his career. This was considered the biggest thing happened to his life that provided door for more opportunities. He is visible in shows of the station such as teen-oriented shows like Click and Joyride, fantaseryes like Mulawin, Majika, Kamandag, Fantastic Man and Tasya Fantasya, comedy shows like Hokus Pokus and drama series like Maynila, Love to Love and Bakekang. He has his permanent stay in GMA’s Sunday noontime show, S.O.P. and S.O.P. Gigsters. He behind the voice of “Ishida Uryuu” in Bleach. He also appeared in films/ movies like So Happy Together, Happily Ever After, Lovestruck and Shake, Rattle & Roll 2k5. He was paired with Yasmien Kurdi in the play entitled “Aladdin”. After the break-up of the so-called love team of the year by Jennylyn and Mark , a new tandem emerged. From the first batch of StarStruck, Rainier Castillo and Yasmien Kurdi were now making waves as love team in several shows of GMA Network. Aside from acting, nobody thought Rainier would be able to enter the realm of recording. But as fate would allowed it, Rainier already have an album as a credit to him. Because of the trust and confidence to Rainier’s talent, the executives of Universal Records especially Bella Dy Tan, the executive producer of the label released his debut album entitled I Love You Babe. He is now a full-fledged recording artist of the label. ”I Love You Baby” was the carrier single of the album. All songs were written by Lito Camo, a famous hit-maker like “Hanggang Ngiti Na Lang”, “Salamat Sa Pansin” and “Baby Baby”. The I Love You Babe single displayed the vocal prowess of the Rainier, which was honed by Anthony Salazar, a professor of the University of the Philippines. In addition to his credits, he modelled Hapee Toothpaste and Bench FIX Salon. He was also in Bench’s 2004 Understatement underwear fashion show at the Araneta Coliseum.
