Who is Mystica?

Ruby Mauanay Villanueva Cassidy-Coolong is the real name of a sensational Filipina singer. She is much recognized as ”Mystica”. Her name along comes mystic impression. She is dubbed as the Philippine Sensational Diva and Pop/Rock Diva. She is famous also as the Split Queen. Not just a typical Filipina-next-door, she is a Singing Goddess once she opened her mouth and started voicing out a tune. Her style ranged from soulful to husky yet bouncy. With her wit and sense of humor, she puts magic is all her performances. She is an original. Her personality is known as provocative, sexily twisted, comically humorous, sensual, flirtatious, vivacious and vampy.

Mystica was born on December 18, native from Allacapan, Cagayan, Philippines. As soon as she started showbiz career, she bought a brand new house and lived in an exclusive subdivision in Quezon City. Early on her career, she moved to Vancouver, Canada and became a Canadian citizen. She has honed her talent into an international standard.

On her sojourn in Canada, she became an international artist, not just as a singer but also a dancer, actress and a model. Among her credits were an extensive modelling training and acting from the eminent John Casablancas Modelling & Career College and dancing workshops under Marlowe Menard and Kelly Urquhart at Dance Co. and several other workshops. She was even trained various techniques in Martial Arts, aerobics and equestrian studies and practice. She doest not rest on her laurels but rather relentless and tireless in acquiring skills for her quest for success.

Aside from being an excellent singer, she believed that acting requires the same qualities in singing, whether in stage or in film. Some of her stage performances were The Mutiny Of The Minsk, A Christmas Carol and in the film The Song Of Vergeven proved her acting prowess good. The time spent in Vancouver has a significant advancement in her singing career. She performed with The System, a band composed of Portuguese and Italian musician. On her performance at the Century Plaza Hotel, she caught Ray Caroll’s attention and eventually became her vocal coach and manager.

Mystica then decided to relocate to Los Angeles, California to seek greater challenges and opportunities. She stayed there for several years. She produced her first cover album entitled The Cover Girl. She started writing original songs and produced two other albums with Holywood producers, Jimmy Hunter and David Ajian. The albums were named The Mystic Dancer and I’ll Bring You Back. She was also persuaded to record danceable tracks for film use. Aside from recording, she already performed at many venues as Hollywood Palladium and accepted invitations to guest on radio stations and television programs where she have promoted her own music.

One of Mystica’s most memorable moments was when she was chosen to represent West Lost Angeles in many important competitions that took place in L.A. Country. Mystica indeed received a warm reception from the L.A.s.

After how many years abroad, Mystica started to miss her homeland and felt the pull for her to return. In response, she flew home and with renewed vigor to start as a local recording artist. At no time at all, Mystica was performing in different venues in Manila and did not went unnoticed. Nonoy Tan of NOTA Productions discovered her and found herself recording again yet another album. Realizing that the girl has something unique, Rock Records Philippines immediately contracted her under Boss Bernie Refuerzo.

Following her successful self-titled album, she released her second album in the Philippines entitled Walang Takip. She has proved that she can deliver a song in style even in heart-wrenching ballads. She also released her Pagbabago and one of the top artists who recorded an inspirational songs as Walang Takip, Walang Tinatago and Simple Lang.

Being an acrobat and as the Spilt Queen, she injected her performances with her “spilt” and is not afraid to bare sexy posses for Sexbomb, Chicmate and in Red Entertainment Magazine for Men. Her life is an adventure. She is just a small-town girl but smart not a naive one.

Unsurprisingly, Mystica was chosen to be the commercial model and endorser or Renew Placenta Herbal Beauty Products. This includes Beauty Soap, Facial Cream, Skin Toner and Body Lotion. Other endorsements were Korean Red Ginseng, Livermin Capsules and Olive-C Milk Soap. She even signed another endorsement contracts for two products of UK Derma.

As a TV personality and actress, Mystica as a disciplined person maintained herself free from intrigues. As a movie actress, her acting stints were really satirical and highly acclaimed one. She appeared in movies like Ang Gusto Ko Sa Lalaki, Banyo Queen, Weyt A Minit Kapeng Mainit, D’Uragons, Never Umuurong, Always Sumusulong and Seroks where she was nominated as Best Actess for the 2nd Annual Cinema One Originals Festival. Serok won the Best in Cinematography.

Beside left and right schedules, Mystica managed to handle her talents, the sensational female group, The Mystic Dancers and the all-male group, The Mystic Angels and The Mysticos, managed by Mystica and her only son, Stanley.

Her devotion to her craft, her boundless enthusiasm and her grace and charm will lead to many oppurtunities for Mystica. Success will never elude the likes of Mystica.
