MYMP - Bio, Albums, Songs and Lyrics - OPM Filipino MusicThe Story of MYMPMake Your Momma Proud is more likely called ”MYMP”. It is a Filipino band known for covering old songs and 90’s hits into an acoustic version. MYMP is the author of the sweetest, softest and most soothing music in the Philippine Music Industry could have. The perfect tandem of Chin Alcantara and Juris Fernandez together with other band mates produced great music everywhere and draws out fans and listeners with their pleasant personalities and gratifying songs. Julie Iris Fernandez is known as “Juris” from Davao. She finished her BS Psychology in Ateneo de Davao but pursue her career in music. She is the lead singer of the band and was loved by many because of her cool and soft voice. Her simple and sweet appearance and kind and fun-loving personalities made her appealing to the fans and listeners. Chin Alcantara is the guitarist of the band. He learned playing guitar when he was still 15 years old and with the support of his Dad, pursued a career as musician. He was able to finish his degree of Communication Arts in Miriam College. His friendly and funny personality makes him the fans’ favourite either on or off the stage. John Dexter Angeles plays the drums and was influenced by Dave Matthews band. Though shy externally, he has his funny and fun-loving side and makes him a great person to be a friend. Edward Jimenez is much more popular of the name “Oja”. He plays the keyboards for the band. His boyish charm and quite appeal made him an asset to the band on stage. Aemil Rivas is the bassist of the band. He is simply called “Emil”. His is tough in exterior but it only hides his fun-loving and friendly side. The band’s first album was released on 2003 entitled Soulful Acoustic under Ivory Records. It is a eleven-track and a certified platinum album. The band was able to release three albums in 2005. Beyond Acoustic was released under Ivory Records containing 12 songs. The album reached its certified Platinum 7x. Another Ivory Record album was released on the same year entitled Versions. It is also a 12-track album and is also a certified 7x Platinum. Live At The Music Museum was released on 2006 still under Ivory Records with 14 tracks inside. The Repackaged Version VCD includes an audio cd. The New Horizon was released on December of 2006 still under the same label. Mymp also collaborated with various artists in the album Ultraelectromagnetic Jam of Ivory Records on 2005 with a song “Huwag Mo Nang Itanong”. The band also appeared in “Soul Obsessions: Duets With Thor” on 2007 with the song “Be My Number”. Some of the songs of MYMP were being used in TV programs. Several songs were used in TV and radio ad like Tatak Exclusibo of HBC Commercial, Torpe Song #5 remix for Jollibee Commercial, Bida Ang Saya of Jollibbe Store Ad, One Moment, One Nescafe of Nescafe Ad and the jiggle of Jam88.3. The band can be seen also in ASAP and in MYX as a guest. Their songs received several awards and so with their concerts. Albums
