Milk N Money - Bio, Albums, Songs and Lyrics - OPM Filipino Music

The History of Milk N Money

Milk n Money is a Filipino band since 2000. Their music defined the mishmash of sentimental lyrics and enchanting harmony in a melodic alternative pop genre. Their lyrics speak realities of life- love, hatred, suffering, mending and moving on, making it easy for everyone to relate with them.

Milk n Money is a band of five members. Maria Filipina Escobedo, commonly called as Pinay is the band’s lead vocalist. Her distinctly alternative vocals ranges from the likes of Cynthia Alexander, Cookie Chua and Ketchie Nadal. With her, Milk n Money will find a field with pastures greener than ever. Sam Salantes played the guitars while Pres de Guzman toyed the bass. Reycarl Olarte or simply Rey deals with the drums and percussion. To complete the line-up, Arnie Escobedo Jr. is the band’s keyboardist.

”Spiral of Silence” is the first name of the band, formed on 2000. The original line-up was composed of Pinay, Sam, Pres and Rey. During the time, they were dishing out metal and hardcore tunes until the arrival of Arnie Escobedo who happened to be Pinay’s younger brother and switched to somewhat softer albeit still edgy sound.

One of the band’s breaks was when they joined the Band Breakout competition of RX 93.1. However, Milk n’ Money failed to bring home the grand title but walked away as one of the finalists.

Not satisfied of being a finalist only of the said competition, the band worked double time, honed their skills and improved their music. They played countless gigs in different venues and accepted offers for special events with the help of Darwin Hernandez of Soupstar Entertainment management team.

On 2004, armed with confidence, they joined the Band Breakout again and finally brought the band a step higher than any other bands. Armed with a more aggressive spunk through their award-winning entry “Scream”, the band was awarded the highest distinction of RX 93.1 2004 Band Breakout. This prestigious competition sponsored by RX 93.1, one of the leading radio stations nationwide, provides break out in the music scene for the most promising Pinoy band.

The band was included in the RX 93.1’s Concert Series and their songs earned spotlight in different stations including the NU107’s In The Raw program. But what is more important is that, they become more and more visible and evident though different media exposures.

Their song, Panahon, was part of the released soundtrack album of Single, a television show of ABC5. The music video of the said single was also featured on MTV and OPM MYX Channel. The band holds the honor of playing alongside with other famous Filipino bands. Through this, they can impart to their ever-growing fans their original compositions such as Lihim, Okay Na, Bahala Na and Love To Hate.

In a short period, Milk n Money was able to complete the preparation of their demo that will hopefully give them a recording contract with the industry’s major label. Three of the band’s original composition paved way for them to the album, Graduation Day.

The album, Graduation Day served as the launching pads for the three hottest bands of the country nowadays. They can now fully penetrate the mainstream of local alternative music scene. From the name itself, they are like graduating from being an amateur band to big-time signed bands, establishing their names in the business.

Milk n Money shared the same limelight with other two fresh bands, the Brainwash and Blue Ketchup. These three bands have been playing gigs for some time already and performed in various bars and venues.

Graduation Day was released on 2005 under Star Records. The album spawned 10 tracks from Milk n Money, Brainwash and Blue Ketchup.

Milk n Money’s Ok Na is currently enjoying extensive airplay on radio stations nationwide.
