Mark Bautista

The Story of Mark Bautista

Mark Bautista is a Pinoy pop singer, an actor and a heartthrob. He is one of the most-sought after male balladeer today. He is called Mac-Mac by peers and stands 5’8”. He was one of the finalists of Star For A Night and won the second place next to Sarah Geronimo. He was able to release several albums of certified gold status and participated in several programs of ABS-CBN.

Mark Bautista was born on August 10, 1983 and grew up in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. He lived with his father Darni and his mother Susan together with his older brother and sister and two other younger siblings. Though blessed with good looks, a killer smile and a wonderful body, he was a sort ashamed and unwilling to share his God-given talent. His exposure to different various singing competitions contributed him confidence. He even won the first prize of some oratorical competition he joined in. Due to the condition of his father and was forced to stop working, he supported and gave all his prize money to his parents to ease the financial burden of the family. He is a third year Architechture student of Cagayan de Oro College and Engineering School and quits school when show biz beckoned.

He started singing publicly when he was in high school. He joined the band named “Voizemale” and started singing in different gigs in Cagayan de Oro and sung hits like as of Earth, Wind & Fire and of the Backstreet Boys.

Mark friends forced him to audition for ABS-CBN’s MTB but unfortunately unlucky for this time. He kept on polishing his talent where he excels most, singing. He waited until another life time opportunity knocks on the door of this aspiring singer. And indeed, another audition paved way for his fame. Star For A Night hosted by Regine Velasquez held an audition in Cebu and Mark thought he would going to miss a great opportunity if he is not going to grab the chance. He went to the audition using the money given by her mother as birthday gift.

Mark had to go to Manila to proceed for the remaining level of audition process. Because of financial instability, he hitched in a cargo just to reach Manila in time. He passed all the levels of Star For A Night and made it to grand finals. He ended up as second placer next to Sarah Geronimo.

He released his self-titled album on 2004 under Viva Records. The next year, another album entitled Dream On was released on September 2005 under Viva Records. The album was released as CD-Lite. The second album was more revealing than his debut album. Due to its success, Viva Records released a full album entitled Dream On Expanded on January 2006. His third album Every Now And Then under Viva Records was released recently last 2007. He also guest several albums with other artists as Salbakuta, Sarah, Rachelle and with other champions.

Another highlight on Mark’s career was his first solo major concert in Aliw Theatre dubbed as “Pop Heartthrob” held on March 24, 2006. He hosted the two seasons of “Search For A Star In A Million” with the other champions and made his permanent stay in ASAP. He played the role as Lastikman with his leading lady Sarah Geronimo. He replaced Vic Sotto who as Lastikman.
