The Story of Carol Banawa
Carol Claire Aguilar Banawa is simply known as ”Carol Banawa” in the Philippines. She’s a Filipina singer and an actress of 5’2”. She is called the Star Diva and a real genuine multimedia star. She crossed successfully from recording to TV to stage and movies. On the roster of artists of Star Artist, she remained the highest-selling recording star.
She is a blessing to Albino and Cirila Banawa on March 4, 1981 in Pasay City, Philippines together with two other sibling, Alexander and Cherry. She was eventually raised in Batangas. Carol dreamt of having a musical career at very young age but thought it never come true. She started singer when she was just a little girl when her family was still in Saudi Arabia. Since always all alone having no playmates, she was encouraged to sing by her mother and realized she’s in into singing. On her home coming here in Philippines, she was always requested to sing in social gatherings. She made singing, dancing and acting her hobby and enjoyed doing so. Carol then entered a beauty pageant when she was eight years old. This led her to her path of stardom. She was invited to join as one of the child stars of “Ang TV”, ABS-CBN’s children oriented show and became a famous music star in the Philippine music scene. She considered it as a part-time job because she paid more attention to her studies. Unfortunately, her brother was killed and her father was injured. Her hobby became the family’s source of income and stop schooling.
Her self-titled album Carol was released on 1997 under Star Records, owned by ABS-CBN Recording Company. “Till There Is Time” is the album’s carrier single. Other three songs were included in the repackaged version of the album which was set to public on 2000.
Transition was released on 2001. The album remarks her improvement and maturity in her music. The most well-known song of the album is “Stay”, the song which she performed with Jay Durias of South Border. The song was dedicated to her brother who was killed on 1999 due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
On 2003, Carol released another album entitled Follow Your Heart. The album includes songs as “Heaven Knows” of Rick Price, “Ocean Deep” of Cliff Richard and “Get Here” of Oleta Adams. The song “Together Forever” was used as the soundtrack of the movie Forevermore.
She sang the soundtrack of the movie Anak on 2002 starring Vilma Santos and Claudine Barreto. She was featured also in an Inspirational Albums entitled Tanging Yaman and Only Selfless Love and also in Mysteria Lucis (Mysteries of Light) album of Star Records.
She appeared in several TV as ASAP, Bituin with Nora Aunor, Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan, Tabing Ilog etc. and movies like Tanging Yaman.
Carol paused for a while and rested from the unruly world of show business. She was married to a US Military man and has a daughter. She is pursuing for her nursing degree.
Pinoyvision Records released her Platinum Hits Collection Album on 2004. The album collects all the hittest songs of Carol and comes with a VCD of Carol’s hit music videos.
