The Story and Songs of Brownman Revival
Brownman Revival is a Filipino reggae band originating in Manila, Philippines. It was formed on late 1994 by Dino and Dennis Conception. The band engages in different genres varying from Pinoy to Alternative rock and reggae. The band was composed of 9 members each having their own instruments to play. The band got their inspiration from UB40, Big Mountain and the styles of Bob Marley.
Dino Conception is the band’s vocalist and Alphy Desavile as his back-up. Both handle the guitars of the band. Dennis Conception is the drummer and back-up vocalist as well. Januarie Sundiang is the percussionist (plays the percussions), Jayson Cuevas deal with the trombone, Jojo Antinero with the saxophone, Ambet Abundo as the trumpet player, Jao Larion as the bassist and the one who deals with the keyboard is Onard Bonavente. Of course, a band cannot be completed without setup crews. Jotay was brownmanager, Ricky Tek as the sound engineer and the three steady crews, Jigger Vergara, Paw Flava Bondoc and Gary Alvarado.
The band recaptures the true spirit of reggae vibe. Their first entry into mainstream was on year 2005 when their first album was released entitled Steady Lang on July of the same year. The said album contained 11 tracks and was released under the label BMG Records. The singles were Maling Akala, Lintik, Binibini, Ikaw Forever, Ikaw Lang Ang Aking Mahal, Under the Reggae Moon, Dahan-Dahan, Gusto Mo Pa, Ngayong Gabi, Salarin and Jeggae. This debut album is a certified Gold Record. The music video of one of their singles of the album, Binibini was being played over different music channels. Its video was directed by a renowned filmmaker, Raymond Red. Its songs arisen the curiosity of many and changed the look of reggae music.

Ayos Din, their sophomore album was recently released on March 2007 under the label Sony BMG Music Entertainment. It is a 14-track album carries its main single, Sorry Na, Pwede Ba featuring “Rico J. Puno”. The track paved its way on favorite radio stations and its video was premiered on MYX. Other singles such as Muli made a rare collaboration with “Ramon RJ Jacinto”, a legendary singer/guitarist and “Jay Flava” was featured in Lahat Ng Araw (Silayan). Instead of reviving most of the songs, the band let loose of their talents and composed half of the tracks in this album. Singles like Kapit, Walang Kasing Sarap, Paikot-Ikot, Bitin, Diskarte, Ikembot Mo and Lasapin keeps the spirit of true Pinoy reggae music.
Brownman Revival is now considered as one of the best loved reggae bands in the Philippines after a decade of such a long journey. They did countless gigs in different bars and concerts throughout the country.
