Yvette Barbra Almabis-Honasan, a singer and songwriter from the Philippines. She is more commonly called Barbie Almabis. She was born on August 26, 1977. She is a born-again Christian and got married to a painter and scion of a heir of Philippine political family, Martin Honasan. Noa Stina was the name of their firstborn offspring.
She was the previous lead singer of Hungry Young Poets and Barbie’s Cradle, both popular bands. Barbie’s first band, the Hungry Young Poets, scored a record-breaking hit with "Firewoman". Almalbis and Benitez later call the band Barbie’s Cradle in 1998. Three albums were produced by this group which includes hits like “Everyday”, “Tabing Ilog”, and “All I Need”
Barbie was recognized for her fragile and emotional vocals. She is an excellent songwriter and guitar player. She is capable of playing guitar in her own right and also a painter.
Barbie then moved on and pursues a solo career in year 2005 and released a self-titled compilation album, Barbie: The Singles.
In year 2006, Parade, her debut solo album was released. Her music portrays rather eccentric, but with charming vocal style and guitar skills.
Some collaboration was made to Kitchie Nadal and Barbie Almabis. The song were used in Unilever’s Philippine TV Commercial for Sunsilk. It was featured by both of them.
Juicy Fruit also chooses Pupil and Barbie Almabis as advertising models to invite younger generations to Rockoustic Mania advertising events. This promotion included Juicy Fruit’s Tugtog Mo! Band Competition and Style Mo! Competition by Human and Pony footwear.
The collaboration of two artist offers the combination of Rock and Acoustic. The AVCD was released with 2 featured songs, music videos and behind the scenes look at the artists’ work on August 24, 2006. The Juicy Fruit Rockoustic Mania Final Fusion event was held on November 17 with the featured performance of Barbie Almabis and Pupil together with some guest bands.
This 28-year old Barbie has performed her first major solo concert in Araneta Coliseum last May 19, 2006 called the “Barbie Rocks the Big Dome”.
