The Story and Songs of Aiza SeguerraAiza Seguerra is a Filipino singer and an actress. She is known for her beautiful and soothing voice and unique style. Aside from that, she openly confessed that she’s a lesbian and remained true to herself. She first appeared in “Little Miss Philippines” contest on Eat Bulaga, the longest running noon show of the country. She started as a child actress and made a comeback with her album Pagdating Ng Panahon. Aiza was born on September 17, 1983. her introduction to show business started when chosen as the runner-up of Eat Bulaga’s “Little Miss Philippines” in 1987. She was only three years old then but her antics won the hearts of the viewers. She was seen on TV shows like Eh Kasi Bata and ventured to films. As the skilled child, she starred in movies like Aso’t Pusa, Okey Ka Fairy Ko 1 & 2, Aswang etc. and she won several awards as a child actress. Her role as a child star was soon lessened and diminished. Aiza made her comeback on the release of her debut album Pagdating Ng Panahon under Vicor on 2001. The album and the song became a phenomenal hit which is least expected. The carrier stayed in the charts for several weeks as Number One. The album eventually reached its certified quintuple platinum status. The album was able to gather several awards including Awit Awards for Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist. As a recording artist, she is very much in demand as live performer in her own acoustic shows and gigs. She is commonly seen singing accompanying her favorite instrument, guitar. Her popularity does not only limited here in the country but also made several trips to USA and Canada. Her follow-up album, Pinakamamahal was released and received a gold award, two weeks after its release. Her third album entitled A First! Live in Concert also achieved gold sales. It featured the highlights of her 2002 sellout concert in Music Museum. Being a singer and recording artist, she did not forget her talent in acting. She even received an award of her role in Maalaala Mo Kaya entitled Songbook. She also starred in several movies like: Paano na?Sa Mundo ni Janet (1987), Super Inday and the Golden Bibe (1988), Petrang Kabayo at ang Pilyang Kuting (1988), Good Morning, Titser (1988), Me and Ninja Liit (1988), Aso’t Pusa (1989), Twist: Ako Si Ikaw, Ikaw Si Ako (1990), Papa’s Girl (1990), I Have Three Eggs (1990), Goosebuster (1991), Okey Ka, Fairy Ko! I & II (1991 & 1992), Dobol Dribol (1992), Daddy Goon (1992), Aswang (1992), Rocky Plus (1993), Hulihin: Probinsiyanong Mandurukot (1993), Manananggal in Manila (1997), Computer Combat (1997), Shake, Rattle & Roll (1997), Bahay Ni Lola (2001), Singsing Ni Lola (2002) and Enteng Kabisote: Okay Ka Fairy Ko 1, 2 & 3 (2004, 2005 & 2006). She also had her dramatic role in Hanggang Kailan, GMA’s soap opera together with Ogie Alcasid. “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” was the theme song of the song which was sung by Aiza and Ogie. The song became an instant hit and was released as a single. She was seen recently of her role in Ysabella with Judy Ann Santos. She also hosted Body Talk, a sex-educated show for teens on The Knowledge Channel. Aiza’s album Sabi Ng Kanta has already gone gold. “How Did You Know”, a revival song from the album became a fan favorite. “What Matters Most”, a duet with Vic Sotto also became very popular but Aiza’s favorite was “Huwag Kang Lalayo” of the album. As of early 2004, she teamed up with Andrew de Real to buy Naughty String Acoustic and Comedy Bar located at Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City and was supervised personally by Aiza the installation of the state-of-the-art audio system. Aside from singing, Aiza was planning to enter politics. Though mother’s idea but eventually convinced and was inspired by Vilma Santos with her special interest is the elimination of the worst forms of child labor of the country.
