The band was originally called AG’s Sound Tripper, derived from the last names of managers Abenoja-Galindo. The second purpose why Aegis because its literary meaning is Shield or Protection. Aegis band wants to share their talents and let the listeners feel that they are free from being lonely and broken-hearted. The group composed mostly love songs. The band is composed of Juliet Sunot and Mercy Sunot as the band’s lead vocalists, Stella Maris Galindois the keyboardist, Vilma Goloviogo is the drummer, Rowena Pinpin as the band’s bassist and Rey Abenoja as the lead guitarist. Each member descended from the different island representing the three major parts of the country. Juliet and Mercy came from Cagayan de Oro, Stella is from Misamis Oriental, Vilma from Manila, Rowena is a Pampagueno and Rey came all the way from Southern Leyte. The band’s vocalists were super talented and gifted with their distinctively strong voice.
Aegis first and second albums entitled Halik and Mahal Na Mahal Kita produced several hits songs as Basang-Basa Sa Ulan, Luha, Manilawa Ka, Sundot Palad and many more. Their songs were constantly played over and over in different radio station even until today. Their songs were as much effective as before and remained in the hearts of the people. After a decade together, Aegis was not simply a band anymore but has become a family sharing rooms, foods, stories and lives. It is unbelievabe that the band remained intact in spite of changes and chances in music business. The lyrics of the songs speak nothing but truth and honesty in it. For the members being a part of Aegis was the best thing for them. Though they have played their music with the other groups, it was in Aegis that they have felt the strong bond, the unseen link that has kept them through all these years. Aegis started their singing career as performers in clubs and lounges all over Japan. Their were first called as the AG’s Sound Tripper by AG Talent Development and Management by Lito and Josie Galindo. The band’s turning point for their career was when they submitted a recorded demo containing hits "Halik" and "Luha". They were presented by Nonoy Tan to Alvin de Vera of Alpha Records who named the band Aegis.
