The Story of 6 Cyclemind

6 Cycle Mind is a known band of the Philippines. It is a band of with Alternative, Pop, Classic and Reggae music. They are presently one of the busiest, most visible and most hard-working band in the country. Though called 6 Cycle Mind, the band is composed of five members only but they considered their manager as its sixth member. It is their manager who wrote most of the songs for the band.

6 Cycle Mind is a band formed on 2001, originating in Tarlac City, Tarlac, Philippines. It was the idea of Chuck after the disbandment of After Image where he is the lead guitarist. Chuck worked in a recording company and on his sojourn, he signed up a group managed by Darwin Hernandez. The two decided to add members which eventually ended into 6 Cycle Mind.

Ronel “Ney” Dimaculangan, the former member of “Angel In Disguise” is the band’s vocalist and so with Ryan “Rye” Sarmieto who also played the rhythm guitars. Carlos “Chuck” Isidro is the former guitarist of ”After Image”, played the lead guitars. Roberto “Bob/Bobby” Cañamo is also a member of ”Angel In Disguise” with Ney, who played as the bassist in 6 Cycle Mind. Gilbert Magat is the chosen original drummer of the band. Tutti Caringal, a previous lead vocalist of ”Protein Shake” replaced Gilbert and presently, the band’s drummer.

On October of 2003, the band released its debut album entitled Permission To Shine under BMG Records Pilipinas. It is a 12-track album spawning hit songs like Paba, Sige and Biglaan. All the songs were composed and arranged by the six members who contributed for the success of the album. Other tracks include: Wait or Go, Fly, Gaya Ng Noon, Forever I’m Sorry, Tunay, Sentimental Garbage and Nalilito. The album reached its certified Gold status.

Panorama, their second album was released under the label of Sony BMG Music Entertainment. It was released on January of 2005. It is a 15-track album producing hit singles like Sandalan, Umaasa and Trip. The acoustic version of Sige was also included in the package. All songs were pure originals and like the first release, the album also achieved its certified Gold status.

On 2005, the band contributed in “UltraelectromagneticJam: A Tribute to Eraserheads” under Sony BMG Philippines. They also participated in the compilation entitled ”The Best Manila Sound: Hopia Mani Popcorn” on 2006 under Viva Records.

Although known for their original compositions, the band released an album on January 2007 containing remakes of songs and interpreted it from very laid-back acoustic to bossa nova. The album was entitled Home under Sony BMG Music Entertainment. The title track, Home was originally sung by Michael Buble. Other covers were Prinsesa of The Teeth, In Between Days of The Cure, Upside Down of Two Minds Crack and The Beatles’ Across The Universe. The band collaborated with Wendell Garcia and Isha in the track Be My Number Two.

On the same year, Fiesta!, their fourth album was released under Sony BMG Music Entertainment. From the previous release of remakes, the band now returned to its all-original compositions and aired the said album on October. The album boasted 17 fresh hit singles with its carrier single, Magsasaya.

The band was tapped to endorse Tanduay Rhum and had their tour in almost fiesta of the country with Tanduay.
