Bio, Albums, Songs and Lyrics - OPM Filipino Music
History of My OdessaMy Odessa is an all-new band from Davao, Philippines. Though composed of entire three mere rocking girls, they have the guts to make things happen accordingly. My Odessa is a band of three, composed of sisters Paige Buan and Sid Buan and a friend Ana Guisingmadali. Paige with her early bass lessons played the band’s bass and acted the primary vocalist as well. Sid is expert when it comes to drumming, after being taught by her uncle to play it meanly. Ana Guisingmadali on the other hand enjoyed experimenting with her guitar. Sid started playing in a band since high school. During one of the competitions, she came across with Ana. Eventually, Paige joined her sister and the new member for the band, My Odessa. My Odessa impressed the audience with their praiseworthy rock performances. Remarkably, they were able to cover songs of classic rocks like Highway Star of Deep Purple, Black Dog of Led Zeppelin and even the Sweet Child o’ Mine of Guns N’ Roses. With 60 band contenders, My Odessa joined in a Mindanao-wide competition held in Tagum in Davao. Their victory prodded them to take music a serious undertaking. Having heard nothing but applauses and praises, they decided to try their luck for a recording career after being introduced to a Manila-based producer, Nonoy Tan. Though advised to compose enough songs for an album, they rather heeded the advice of a family friend to write three songs and go to music capital once and for all. So they packed their bags and filled their car with their instruments and started their unpromising odyssey where bright future is very dim. While in Manila, they have to begin in scratch. Having known nobody, they focused on making composition for any unpredictable events. But their passion for music pulls them back to perform on stage. Despite complexities, these girls are determined to do what is needed to be done. Dependent on their very own resources, My Odessa started to get their selves noticed by traveling to distant places like Olongapo just to go to bars and asked to be allowed to play in their miniature stages. But the results came out to be affirmative. Audiences wanted more of their artistic presentation and would even ask for the next scheduled gigs. Since then, My Odessa had been visible in the circuit playing their music in some prestigious bars like Mayric’s, Ratsky’s, Capones and Eastwood. On June 2008, they received an avalanche of praises in different internet blogs. But still their dream of recording an album was still left frustrated. They met different potential managers but after speaking to Nonoy Tan again, everything fell back to its proper places. Tan offered them to produce the album himself and under Viva Records. On 2008 My Odessa released their self-titled debut album. The artist is also co-managed by Viva Artists Agency. They are trained to put a good show and their unsurpassable performances are accredited to their maxim that every gig will be the last and the best gig. No wonder, My Odessa is a surprise musical trip you’ve been waiting for.
