The Story of Masculados

Masculados is an all-boy group of the Philippines. Derived from the name Masculados, the group composed of seven sexy, masculine male with matching good-looking faces. This group is not in singing but good in dancing as well.

The group was discovered by Maryo J. Delos Reyes, a movie and television director. Masculados were composed of:

Zoltan Amore is a gym instructor. He is able to understand and speak Cebuano since his paternal roots were from Cebu. Showbusiness is not new to him for he appeared in cameo roles of the movies “Ang Kabit Ni Mrs. Montero”, starring Patricia Javier and “Halik Sa Lupa” with Allona Amor and Jeffrey Santos. Another member is the group is Bok Brilliantes. Aside from being a Masculado, he is a registered nurse. If things turned out bad, he still has a fallback career. Kirot Amarati has a Spanish and Pakistani descent. Being a ramp and commercial model, he already has 15 TV commercials including Mama Cita and Super Dry Beer. Prior to his decision to become a Masculado, he had his hosting sting for 17 months with the Master Showman. This fourth member is of the shy type. He is Omar Principe and is a ramp model. Though of the shy type, Omar can sing and dance with pleasure. Lexter Lazaro is a graduate of Business Administration. Acting and modelling were his part-time jobs. Some of his past projects were under Direk Maryo. He is considered the “livewire’ of the group. Another ramp model is Robin Robel. He is a computer graduate and the girls’ favorite however, he is somewhat already taken. Cheche of Sexbomb and Robin were rumoured as more than friends but he denied it during the interview. The last member of the group is their instructor, Ailex De Asis. Though with humor, he is a computer tech graduate and a gym instructor. As the group’s instructor, he makes sure his program is taken seriously.

The original seven masculine talents were chosen out of hundreds of hopefuls who wanted to join the group as a shortcut to showbusiness. The Masculados is touted as counterpart of Sexbomb, a group of dancing and singing girls.

Prior to the actual launch of the group’s debut album, the seven underwent a rigid training for one year. On 2003, their eponymous debut album, Masculados was released under the label, Universal Records. The album contained 10 tracks, spawning hits like “Sana Mama”, “Lagot Ka”, “Ratratin” and “Macho Papa”. Musicians like Lito Camo, Mike Hanopol, Noel Macanaya a.k.a. DJ Mod, Erwin dela Cruz comprised the collections. The album already attained its gold status and paving its way to platinum mark.

Nakaka..., their second album was released the following year under Universal Records. It was produced by Noel Macanaya, Lito Camo and Ito Rapadas. “Jumbo Hotdog” is the first single off the album. Some of the potential hits were the title track, “Nakaka”, “Tigas Lalambot” and “Jumbo Hotdog”.

Chad Sevilla and Enrico Mofar are the newest additions. The first stud is a singer, guitarist and a modelling instructor while the other one is a Marine Transportation graduate and a former dance instructor.
