She bested eight other contenders and won the title as the ultimate champion of Pinoy Pop Superstar Season 3 and joined ranks with the likes of Jonalyn Viray and Gerald Santos. With her voice similar of Zsa Zsa Padilla, the Divine Diva, Maricris was dubbed as the ”Divine Princess”. Being elegant and simple, this singer derived her inspiration from the likes of Barbra Streisand and Barry Manilow. Maricris Garcia was born on September 26, 1987 originating in Caloocan City, Manila, Philippines. She is ABS Tourism of La Consolacion College. She was used in singing and performing in hotel lounges. She can do anything in spite of being a menopause baby. She first auditioned for the first season of Pinoy Pop Superstar but failed to become a finalist. But her persistence and determination paved way for her victory as she again auditioned to Pinoy Pop Superstar Season 3. Luckily, Maricris made it to the grand finals. The Pinoy Pop Superstar Grand Showdown was held in Araneta Colliseum on June 2. Among the nine grand finalists, only Maricris, Bryan, Joyce and Miguel entered the final four. The four battled out for the face-off round. Maricris sang Beautiful Disaster for the first elimination and As If We Never Said Goodbye of Barbra Streisand for the second elimination. Maricris Garcia and Bryan Termulo made it to ultimate face-off where the two sang One Voice of Barry Manilow. Her touching rendition of the song paved way for her sweet success as Regine Velasquez announced her as the ”Ultimate Champion of Pinoy Pop Superstar 3”. The judges based their scores in the following criteria: 20% from the Nationwide Roadshow, 20% from the text votes and 60% from the performances of the finalists. Aside from the pride brought in winning the prestigious contest, Maricris is now a millionaire as she brought home prizes worth 4 million pesos. Prizes include a house and lot from Avida Corp. worth 1.5 million, services of Belo Medical Group worth 100,000, an Informatics scholarship worth 120,000, 1 million pesos cash, a management contract with GMA-7 Network, a recording contract from GMA Records, 100,000 cash from Ricky Reyes and wardrobe worth 50,000 from Pepsi Herrera and Edwin Tan. Maricris Garcia is now added in the new roster of world-class talents of GMA Network. She was visible in SOP and several shows of the station. She was included in Pinoy Pop Superstar Year 3 Grand Contenders’ Album belting her Beautiful Disaster which was written by Rebecca Johnson and Matthew Wilder. Her song, “Mahal Kita” was also integrated in Mga Awit Kapuso (Best of GMA TV Themes) Volume 4. She was tapped by the management to sing the main theme song of Mga Mata Ni Angelita entitled “Nang Dahil Sa Iyo”. Her “Mahal Kita” was chosen as love theme of Marimar and “Kung Sana Bukas” as the main theme of Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita. Awards
