Heart Evangelista - Bio, Albums, Songs and Lyrics - OPM Filipino Music

The Story of Heart Evangelista

Love Marie Payawal Ongpauco is a popular Filipina singer and actress. She is more identified with her screen name as ”Heart Evangelista: in Philippine show business. Aside from the stated talents, she is also a commercial model and a VJ. Awarded as Princess in RP Movies on 2004, Heart is one of the most popular young stars and ranked one of the sexiest, hottest and most beautiful women in the Philippines.

Heart Evangelista was born on February 14, 1985 in Makati, Philippines. The youngest daughter of Reynaldo and Cecilia Ongpauco, she had a brother named Miguel and four other sisters, Lisam Marjorie, Michelle and Camille. She stayed, grew up and studied in United States. Later, her family returned to Philippines on her late toddler years and studied in the famous school Colegio San Agustin in Makati, Philippines.

Her early discovered was by a commercial agent who happened to saw her at mall while shopping and offer her a commercial for “Rexona”. Heart wanted to be a star but her father hindered her to become one.

She was signed with Star Magic and was paired to John Prats in “G-Mik”. Their tandem was very much accepted by the public and starred several movies like “Trip”, “Ang Tanging Ina” and “My First Romance”. They were also included on “Berks”, a teen-oriented show of ABS-CBN.

On 2002, she collaborated with the album Himig Handog Love Song. Her single Love Has Come My Way won the Texter’s and Listener’s Choice. She released her another single in Australia entitled Tell Me and it positioned itself as number 18 on the charts there. On 2003, she released her self-titled debut album, Heart. She also partook at the My First Romance OST.

Later, Geoff Eigenman was paired to Heart in “Hiram”, a primetime soap opera with Kris Aquino, Dina Bonivie, John Estrada and Anne Curtis. She was also paired to Jericho Rosales in the fantasy-action TV show, “Panday”.

From 2005- 2008, she does not have continuous projects only starring in few programs as “Maalaala Mo Kaya” and “Your Song” episodes. She has more time for her foundation, Heart Can. She starred on “Hiram Na Mukha”, a TV series based on a film on 2007 and appeared for a brief period in “Pangarap Na Bituin”. She focused herself mainly on hosting such as on “Close Up To Fame” in ABS-CBN and “Philippine Idol” in ABC.

After her decision not to renew her contract on Star Magic, she is managed by Manila Genesis Entertainment for two years from 2006- 2008. It caused her popularity to decline somehow. Her conversion from Roman Catholicism to Evangelical Christianity was pointed as the main reason why she transferred from Star Magic to Genesis.

Now, she is managed by her father and co-managed by Annabelle Rama. On April 2007, she transferred to GMA Network and signed with them a two-year contract. She is paired to Richard Guttierez in upcoming show of GMA, “Asero”.
