Short Bio of Dennis Cruz
Dennis Cruz is a Filipino-American artist, a true talented composer, singer and musician. His music comes in a mellow and easy-listening manner, an alloy of ballad, folk, samba and rock n’ roll and his guitar skills are strong influenced from the likes of The Beatles, Bread, James Taylor and Jim Croce.
Dennis was born on 24th of December to Filipino parents. Growing up in a family of musicians, music is somehow intertwined in his system. He is a singer by heart even though he did not go any formal voice lessons or trainings.
On his early 20’s, Dennis and his friend formed a band, a duet dubbed as “Best Friends”. They played in public and in clubs around Germany. Eventually, two other friends were inspired and jumped in form the band, “Salin-Lahi” where he was the rhythm and bass player. Salin-Lahi played around Europe during late ‘80s. The band did covers of songs ranging from Beatles to Steve Miller Band.
On 1989, Dennis went back to United States and performed in clubs around Chicago as solo artist. In spite of everything, Dennis hid from the music industry for unknown reason and worked at Abbott Laboratories.
But still, Dennis was overwhelmed with his intense amor for music. On 2001, he was convinced to write songs again. In a short of time, he was able to compose number of songs including Sigaw Ng Puso, Bituin, The Road etc.
The glory received by his compositions prompted him to release his own CD entitled Sigaw Ng Puso bearing the carrier single with the same name. The debut album was set to public on March of 2004 and distributed under Synergy Music Corporaion, Philippines after signing a contract with the label. His songs ranged from heart-breaking ballads to sanguine melodies.
The song, Sigaw Ng Puso was such a success, having played in several internet radio stations like Pinoy-Radio.com and PhilRadio.com to name the few. Not just in the Philippines, the song was reviewed and appreciated by Filipinos around the world, from Australia to Canada to Taiwan.
This also provoked the idea of going to Philippines to entertain invitations from different radio stations in the country. While in the country, he performed his most-requested song in places like Dumnaguete, San Fernando City,Angeles City and Manila. He also fulfilled the eager ears of the Cebuanos in Kahayag Café with his songs.
Dennis Cruz is no wonder, a very promising American-Filipino artist who would someday penetrate the big scene of music industry. Just listening to his debut album, one can judge easily for his mainstream acceptance sooner or later.
