The name implies a spark of nonsense from breakfast cereals trying to create music out of fruit juices. The thirst to produce something juicy and sweet came up to an idea of forming a band named Citric Maple. Citric Maple was composed of three members namely Red Moyano, Kiko Tuazon and Mark del Rosario. Red Moyano played the drums. One of his hobbies is watching the night sky or collecting useless things and makes them even more useless. Mark del Rosario was the vocalist, guitarist and songwriter of the band. He writes about the intimacies of death and man and getting laid. He and his guitar seemed inseparable that it seemed he wanted to have sex with it. Lastly but not the least is Kiko Tuazon who pounds the drums and bangs the percussions. This skateboard lover usually pissed off the neighbors by jumping over their fences. The history of the band’s formation can be traced way back 1995 during the rainy days in August. It was formed out of obscurity. Due to the fame the bands have experienced, Citric Maple just wanted “to be heard” like any other bands and be recognized in the circuit. Their first gig was played at Club Dredd with a busted guitar and a worthless voice. They were sucked then. Their second gig was proven devastating as the members run around the stage acting like aliens in maroon from Planet of the Nerds. The owner though they were going to destroy the entire stage. This happy-go-lucky guys spends their free time bumming around, play role games or when possessed by the spirit of gluttony, would go to an eat-all-you-can for P 140.00. But when it comes into playing with guitars and drums, it is totally a different story. Coming from the deepest part of their beings, playing is like a drug to them that easily enters into their systems and tirelessly work and jam until the end of the show. You either find yourself screaming for more or just wanted to kill them. Initially, it was Citric Maple’s purpose to jam whole day to drive worries away. The act became an obsession until an idea crossed their minds. They realized that there are not just bums but individuals with talents, musicians who like many, eager to enter the complications in the music industry. Their music may be defined as Semi-Punk, Grunge-Inflicted, New Wave Power Pop or whatsoever. All of them can sing like the Green Day and The Presidents of the USA. Well, there are only few bands that have three vocal harmonies. Its music is still unnamed. Just listen to them and the decision to like or dislike likes in the individual’s point of views. It is in their performance that one can scrutinize that interest of the band members. For them, what they feel is just as important in music-writing.
