The Story of Billy Crawford

Billy Joe Crawford is a Filipino-American singer, dancer, performer, recording artist, songwriter and an actor. He is now popular all over the world simply as Billy Crawford. His musical influences include R&B, pop and soul.

Billy Crawford was born on May 16, 1982. A native from Manila, Philippines, he lived with his half-Filipina, half- Spanish mother Mayette, an American father Jack and two half-brothers. Being multi-linguistic, he is fluent in Tagalog and Cebuano. Also, he can speak English and French well.

He had attended International Christian Academy in the Philippines until such time when he departed for U.S. on his eleventh year. Billy is about to graduate in his studio engineering course at New York University, New York, United States.

Billy’s initial talents were discovered at the age of three. Named Billy Joe, he became a regular in That’s Entertainment, an afternoon television show of GMA Network. He was featured in several movies before he left his country.

In United States, he started his most profound interest in singing, performing mostly in United Kingdom and France as well as Asia. Dallas, Texas first caught Billy singing then the latter moved to New York City where he made Billy Crawford his official name. He attended school in NY where famous personalities also attended including Mandy Moore and Nina Sky.

He danced on stage with an international icon, Michael Jackson when he was only 14 year old at that time. Romance also sprouted as he dated Mandy Moore for almost a year when Billy was 15 and Mandy was only 14.

On 1999, Billy Crawford released his self-titled debut album containing hits like Urgently In Love and Mary Lopez. The album went straight to the Philippine and European charts. However, his career did not last long and everyone started to forget him. He took a break as he was involved in several accidents. His break lasted for more than a year.

Billy’s career as a singer progressed in France with his single Trackin on 2001. It reached the French charts and became certified platinum. The second single, When You Think About Me was also a huge success. On 2002, Billy came back with his sophomore album entitled Ride. The album achieved gold in few weeks and went on to its platinum status. His singles made it to the top charts.

On 2004, he released his album, Big City and widely recognized with his songs, Bright Lights and Steamy Nights. A live DVD was released on 2004, dubbed as Big City Tour Live. The fourth studio album of Billy Crawford entitled It’s Time was set to public on 2008 with 12 tracks in it. He also tried writing and producing new songs for other artists. As for his acting, he was fortune to be inserted in an international movie, Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist.

Billy was humble enough to look back where he rightfully belongs. On 2007, he return to the Philippines for his dance reality show entitled M.O.V.E. The contest was searching for 6 back-up dancers to be featured in his concert in Araneta Coliseum. After his concerts, he went back to United States for other projects and fulfills his commitments.

On his re-return, Billy signed a deal with ABS-CBN instead of GMA Network and was visible in the station’s shows like ASAP and Pinoy Dream Academy. He also hosted the prestigious Miss Earth 2008 which was held in the country.
