Baywalk Bodies is a Filipino group of very sexy, beautiful and talented artists. This bunch of 12 is an all-female singing and dancing group like other all-female groups as Sexbomb and the Hotbabes. Aside from just singing, they were now considered hitmakers with their songs flooded the airwaves.
Baywalk Bodies is composed of 12 girls whose names were known as derived from a shampoo or soap brands. They were Jeanette Joaquin, Palmolive Palma, Camy Coangco, Dove de Vera, Rizza Ruiz, Luxx Laurel, Pantene Palomino, Ivory Ibanez, Rejoice Rivera, Hazel Espinosa, Silka Revilla and Irish Ibarra.
They were first seen being apprehended by mayor Lito Atienza for scantily clothing at the famous Baywalk on Roxas Boulevard. They said they were doing photo shoot and still being dragged to the police stations. That was nothing but a clever publicity stunt and since then, this Baywalk Bodies became staple in Philippine tabloids.
With their singing and dancing abilities, Baywalk Bodies were signed to Alpha Music and was added to the roster of ever growing list of hitmakers. Being witty and liberated, this latest singing-dancing growly, slowly but surely made a mark in local television. Then an issue emerged as another group claiming as the original and the real Baywalk Bodies which eventually disappeared.
As the group were doing various TV shows, and radio stations, Alpha Music released its long-awaited debut album of Baywalk Bodies on 2005. The album was entitled Kilig with 10 tracks in it. The album included two revivals sung originally by Maribel Aunor and Haring Solomon, the Ah Ewan and Pinagbigyan respectively. They incorporated new and fresh arrangements to these two songs that tune in the type of music for today’s generation.
The title track opened the album and also its carrier single. Kilig is gaining tremendous airplays in different TV stations nationwide. Baywalk Bodies also did covers for the Latin dance-tunes, Chocolate and Xibom Bom Bom. They proved that they can produce a carbon copy of the exotic original numbers.
No sooner, the girls worked for their second album and out came Bombera. Bombera was their sophomore album, released under Galaxy Records on 2006. The album spawned 10 tracks with the title tracks as its carrier single. Other potential hits were Ang Pipiliin Ko, Bibingka and Lolipop.
2007 marked the release of the girls’ compilation album. Dubbed as The Very Best Of Baywalk Bodies, Galaxy Records released the album containing 12 songs on 2007. Aside from the popular hits, the album also included new songs as Appear Disappear and El Bimbo as well as Minus One of the songs Appear Disappear, Kiliti and Kilig.
The Baywalk Bodies may have pushed their wagons to the right trend at the right time. They have successfully combined sex novelty act in a musical genre and it is here to stay.
