Bio, Albums, Songs and Lyrics - OPM Filipino Music
The History of Barako BoysBarako Boys is another Filipino bunch of male sexy singers. Conquering the realm of music, they have proved that they are more than just actors with their pretty faces and well-toned bodies. Barako Boys is composed of six, sexy talented male singers. Members are Jay Manalo, Reggie Curley, Luis Alandy, Carlo Maceda, Paolo Paraiso and Christian Vasquez. Luis Alandy is a Philippine known actor. Born on February 7, 1980, he is also good in singing, hosting and modeling. Christian Vasquez was born on February 8, 1977 and a good Philippine sexy TV and movie actor and model. Jay Manalo is another award-winning Filipino actor, born on January 30, 1973 in Saigon, Vietnam but raised in Tondo, Manila. Carlo Maceda started out as a model as the first grand winner of Mossimo Bikini Summit on 2002. Reggie Curley was once a model but now can be seen acting alongside with other big personalities. Paolo Paraiso is another known Filipino hunk model eventually drifted into acting and singing. Everything started out with “All About Men”, a critical and commercially successful play. Initially, it started with Christian, Luis, Paolo and Carlo. The two, Jay and Reggie later joined in All About Men and included in a group aptly called The Barako Boys. The play was nominated as The Nest Musical Play by the Aliw Awards. As more people desire to see them together, the idea of building another sexy male group sprouted. The actors them became recording artists as the six signed a recording deal with Sony-BMG Records. Barako accordingly is an epitome of Alpha Male. Meaning, it is a man who knows his principles and stand for it no matter what. Doing things responsibly attracts women most than just striping clothes and showing muscles. In the entertainment, there are many sexy male groups who already conquered music scene. The other already had a top selling album and the others have singles on their own. They are neophyte on the field and due to competition; they must do their best to get the public’s attention. There’s still long way to run before carving a niche in the business. For their recording, Barako boys underwent voice training with Tony Carpio. They also made it a point to brainstorm with the producers and songwriters. They too made their schedules flexible so as to be together for recording. 2005 saw the long-awaited release of the Barako Boys’ debut album bearing the group’s name. The album was released under BMG Records with five tracks in it. Featuring five hit potentials, “Hot Na Hot” and “Barako” were penned by renowned composer Lito Camo, “Binibining Pilipina” by Edwin Marollano, “Babaero” of Randay Santiago and “No Touch” of Juan de la Cruz Band. The carrier single, Hot Na Hot was enjoying airplays in radio stations. It music videos featured them in cowboys as directed Jessel Monteverde.
