The Story of Angelika Dela Cruz
Maria Lourdes Egger Dela Cruz is a Filipina actress, singer, host and a product endorser. She is better known as Angelika de la Cruz in showbusiness. Aside from countless television shows and movies, she has recorded several albums as well.
Angelika Dela Cruz was born on October 29, 1981in Quezon City, Philippines. She has a Filipino father and an Italian- Austrian mother, inheriting her Filipino-Italian-Austrian descent. She has a younger sister Mika and two brothers, Edward and Erick. She resides in Malabon, Metro Manila presently. She is used to be the girlfriends of different actors including Jericho Rosales, Miko Sotto etc. She also owns the Starz Bar and Restaurant.
Angelika started her career as an actress in 1995 and made it to become part of the movie, Nights of Serafina. ABS-CBN soon spotted her and became part of the soap opera, Mara Clara. After her stint in Mara Clara, she was seen in Esperanza, Oka Tokat etc. Sh starred several movies as Magandang Hating Gabi, Seventeen So Kaka, Huwag Mo Nang Itanong and Esperanza: The Movie.
Angelika Dela Cruz primary passion is singing and this desire eventually came to reality. On 1996, she released her debut album entitled Angelika with 10 tracks in it. The album was under the label, BMG Records.
On 1999, another album was released under BMG Records entitled My Only Wish. The album spawned 10 songs. Imperial Records released her an album which succeeded in Japan. Though, Angelika wanted to become a singer, but her success found more favourable in her acting prowess.
After working with ABS-CBN for quite some time, Angelika decided to try her luck at the rival station, GMA Network. On the said station, she starred in Jessa Zaragosa’s Di Ba’t Ikaw, was seen in youth-oriented Click, noontime variety show SOP and Pintados. Her appearance as the lead role in Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin gave her one of the biggest break in the industry and crowned as GMA’s Soap Opera Princess.
Though very active in television, she took part and matured in movies. She did movies with Robin Padilla in Hari Ng Selda: Anak ni Baby Ama 2 and in S2pid Luv with Andrew E. After Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin, she starred in Habang Kapiling Ka, playing the role of Erica. Her outstanding performance gave her best actress nomination.
After her contract with GMA, Angelika moved back to ABS-CBN and paired with Jericho Rosales in Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas with Kristine Hermosa and Diether Ocampo.
Aside from acting skill, she honed her talent in hosting and can be seen in ETK: Konekm Morning Star, MTB: Ang Saya Saya and in the 2004 Himig Handog Love Songs. She was offered the role in Panday and in Alena of Encantadia but refused the offer for her show with Claudine Barretto in Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin. She played anti-heroine in the remake of Bituing Walang Ningning, together with Sarah Geronimo. She then subsequently turned down several offers from ABS-CBN but pled a role in the mid-drama series of Prinsesa Ng Banyera.
Under Star Records, she is included in the Bituing Walang Ningning Soundtrack, which was released on 2006. She recorded songs “Miss Na Miss Kita” and “Dito Ba?” featuring Sarah Geronimo.
While Prinsesa ng Banyera was still on air, Angelika decided to move back to GMA Network and signed a full-year contract with the station. Her role in Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita is a contra bida, opposing Yasmien Kurdi. Her role in Prinsesa Ng Banyera was replaced by Ara Mina. She will also star in Una Ka Naging Akin and upcoming series, La Lola.
